The thing with Facebook is it’s nothing unique, there are many ways to do what it does, and most of the other ways are way more configurable, educating, fun, as private as you like, still free and more.
Since quitting Facebook I made a decision to spend more time developing my own blog, which I have had for years but only scratched the surface of its usability, I can create groups, upload photographs and videos, have friends lists, have a profile, in fact EVERYTHING Facebook does, a blog running with wordpress does, but wordpress does almost everthing else the internet can do. And unlike the adverts on your profile page on Facebook, if there are adverts on any of my pages on my blog I will get real cash coins money moolah for them! However with all that configurability comes confusion, bewilderment and im sometimes left feeling like a child who knows nothing as I search for an answer to a problem i have and the answer makes no sense to me. However, it does what Facebook does with such ease that you will start to think, what actually is Facebook?
I plan on writing about my whole WordPress experience, how I have done the things that I have done with it, for now though I am just offering my WordPress experience to others, if anyone is interested in setting up their own blog I will help for free. I bought the name www.picturesandwords.co.uk years ago to host mine, this the best way to do it, but you can host a blog with wordpress for free. I’m pretty sure I can navigate anyone through buying a domain name for themselves, and then buying some server space, and getting WordPress to run on that server. I’m going to make a form for this page now, i’ll brb..
Done!
Use it if you need help, if I can help I will!
WordPress has an extensive interface behind the website that people see, the best way to make it do things is to get plugins, there are millions of these, some couldn’t even tell you what they do, and some, they make it snow on your website.
Most of the people that use wordpress understand what this means
“body {
background: url(images/bg_g.png) repeat #000 fixed;
color: #2c2b2b;
font: normal 12px arial;
line-height: 18px;”
And the people that don’t understand that, don’t use WordPress, well i don’t understand it and I use WordPress, if this is you also then get in touch and tell me what you are using wordpress for.
Ok, im off, at the moment I’m adding meta tags to all my pages and posts! For all these years I didn’t know how to do this, or why, the why is it makes it easier for Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines to find you, so it seems like I should have done it at the start…a big backlog to catch up on!
Hope to hear from you soon, leave Facebook, host your own site. It’s important.
Too fully delete your Facebook account is not so easy, I have just found a link to delete it here turns out my account was still there! Gone for good now though.
