Dennis Ritchie was involved in creating Unix, an operating system that birthed Linux. Linux birthed Apple’s OS and all things important, since Windows can’t be trusted. And he also had a hand in creating the C programming language.
He encouraged open source software, which is for free and available for people to tinker with, for the good of all. Something which Apple fight against strongly.
What with all the noise about Steve Job’s death last week I thought I’d make some noise about this guys death. He did a lot more for computing than Steve Jobs it seems important people know about him, but I suspect this death will go largely unnoticed which is a big shame and a sign of how fickle people cant be.
Well, RIP Dennis Ritchie, even if people don’t hear about what you did, for sure they are benefiting from it.
