Whilst in India I started to build up a collection of precious and semi-precious stones. I think I have some pirate blood in me because whenever I saw a jewel shop I would gorp into the window drooling at all the shiny stones. One day I hope to buy a treasure chest (and too have enough jewels to fill it). Click more to see photo’s of some of my jewels.

Ok ok, the first one isn’t a jewel really, its a mineral broadly speaking, also its a form of iron ore, what they use to refine pure iron out of. The thing is, I got told it was hematite when I bought it, but I can’t find a similar looking thing on the internet under the name “hematite” so maybe its not even that!! Still it is pretty. The second jewel is a moonstone, I got it very cheap because its all bust up, still nice though.

The first one is an opal, its such a thin slice of opal mounted on a base stone. Opal is one of my favorite stones, so much colour inside it! I bought it in India but its actually from Australia, and now since im in Australia I will hunt down some more pieces, they can get very expensive the more “fire” there is in them. The second one is a Peacock stone, quite a cheap stone really, but nice when its in the sunlight.

There’s a few pearls I bought, and that really is a black one! Just like the one in Pirate of caribean, mine also has magic powers and what not (can’t remember how it went in the movie, actually was the black pearl a boat?). And the second one is raw ruby! Its a bit flakey and not clear, so it wasn’t so expensive at all. If it was clear all the way through it would be very expensive.

This is one of my most favorite stones, its called watermelon tourmaline for obvious reasons, and it wasnt so expensive at all! Beautifu hey!

Another favorite, even though its synthetic. Its zirconium, all the jewelers had these oversized things for sale, many of them insisted they were natural, which is bollocks! Still very beautiful though!

That first one is some raw uncut aquamarine, it was quite expensive! Aquamarine can cross over into precious stone territory, maybe one day I will get it cut. The second one is citron, again it can be quite expensive, this one is kinda small and not such an exciting cut, I saw some amazing cuts in citron, I think i will buy more next time im in India.

This is bismuth, an elemental metal. And this is the way it actually forms naturally!! Normally though most bismuth for sale naturally is formed in industrial processes, its all the same stuff though, and it all forms like this. Its amazing hey.

Ahhhh, a double terminated quartz crystal, which means that its got 2 points, which the new age people say give it extra power (coff coff bollocks coff), it formed from a thin anchor point out in opposite directions, its rare to get one like this so its more expensive, nothing that will break the bank though. The second one you may think is kryptonite, but its not, if it was i would be out hunting superman, god damn doo gooder. Its actuall flourite, a crystal formed from flourine. I saw some polished ones of this, and they were beautiful! Maybe in India ill pay to get it polished.

This is emerald! A precious stone, its mostly fractured throughout though, so its not so expensive, there is however one corner that has a small area that is very clear, only very tiny though. Its such an amazing green and i just couldnt get that to come out in a photo.

Thats a geode from the Himalayas, I love these things, it must be so great to find one yourself, thing is I could have walked past loads, just looking like normal stones. Lee bought me this one
And the dark stone is called Hawkeye, like catseye, im sure it has another name but i just don’t know it. This stone is one of the stones thats apparently my birth stone, i think they just pick birthstones at random for each month, a load of nonsense!

And this is a sunstone, completely natural, although it is polished here, crazy hey! Theres also one called a moonstone, which is different from the one up there, it looks like this sunstone just blue.
And thats some of me stones, for sure i’ll buy some more next time i’m in India, if anyone wants me to buy them any I would love to, i’ll post em to you and everything. I think I enjoy just buying them, also the more I buy from these guys the cheaper I can get em for.
